How to Join as a Flutist

1. Auditions: Our General Auditions for the 2024-2025 Season are coming up in April 2024. Prepare your flute solo pieces, scales, and sight-reading1

2. Application Process:

   • Fill out the online application form on our website.

   • Pay a $30 non-refundable application fee.

   • Await notification of your audition date and time.

3. Audition Components:

   • Solo Performance: Showcase contrasting sections (slow and fast) or two solos.

   • Scales: Demonstrate technical agility.

   • Sight-Reading: Show your ability to read music on the spot.

4. Instrumentation: We accept applications for all standard orchestra instruments, including the flute.

5. Program Duration: SJYS membership is for the complete season, but students in school marching bands can join us starting in January.
